The vegetation period in 1988 was extraordinary rainy. The amount of precipitation from May to August exceeded 2.16-fold (Polva) and 1.75-fold (at Saku) the long-time average. An effect of liming with cement clinker dust by lime rate 3500kg CaCO3 per hectare on field crops productivity, soil acidity and nutrient content was investigated. The farm scale trials with spring cereals were carried out at county Polva and the field trials with carrot, red beet and cabbage were carried out at Saku. The effect of liming with clinkerdust on spring cereals in conditions of waterlogged and flooded soils was low or missing at all. Lime fertilizers applyed in spring 1998 did not increase the yield of carrot and red beet. However, liming with clinker dust increased the yield of cabbage by 47.1 per cent and with limestone meal by 23.6 per cent, being respectively 110.5 and 92.8 tons per hectare. Clinker dust essentially decreased the acidity and increased the content of available potassium, calcium, magnesium and manganese in soils
