High sensitivity of Pinus sylvestris and Picea abies to pollutants emitted the cement plant becomes evident in changes in radial increment. Strong negative correlation was observed between the high K and Ca concentrations in the environment (in the air, soil and ground water). Altough emissions may have a certain positive impact when their concentration are low, falling radial increment was clearly observable in the areas strongly and significantly affected by pollution from the cement plant. In the area moderately affected by pollution statistically reliable differences in radial increment were observed mainly in pine. In areas farther away from the plant the low concentrations of pollutants do nor affect the biological activity of trees strongly enough to result in significant changes in their increment. As to climatic parameters, indicators of the temperature regime showed the strongest correlation with radial increment
