[Application of embryo culture in red clover polyploidy]

With view to ascertaining the efficiency of red clover embryo polyploidization in sterile culture, this technique was compared with traditional colchicine treatment methods such as treatment of emerged seeds and growing points cat the stage of dehiscent with colchicine solutions. According to tetraploid output (43.3-45.5) colchicine treatment of sterile embryos and growing points was almost equivalent. Polyploidization in sterile culture is superior to colchicine treatment the plant survival is 2.2 times higher, true leaves formation time is 89 days shorter, the number of chimeric individuals among induced polyploids is 2.6 times lower.
