[The efficiency of calcareous sapropel on the crop rotation]
1998
Baksiene, E. (Lithuanian Institute of Agriculture, Dotnuva (Lithuania). Voke Branch)
The possibilities of sapropel for fertilization have been investigated in the Voke Branch of Lithuanian Institute of Agriculture. Corn, barley, clover, winter rye, potatoes, oats were studied in the rotation with application of dry calcerous sapropel from Lake Ilgutis. Manure was used in order to compare its activity with sapropel. Summarized results of the long-term experiment have shown that the effect of 50, 100, 150t/ha sapropel rates in 12 years was the same as an optimum rate of minerat fertilizers. The highest rate of sapropel used (200t/ha) was almost of the same effectiveness as manure. By the end of second rotation the influence of sapropel on agrochemical properties of soil was positive.
