A 242-day trial with groups with fattening bulls was carried out to determine the replacement efficiency of soybean oil-meal with field bean meal in the diets for fattening bulls on the growth rate, feed intake, nutrient digestibility and nitrogen, calcium and phosphorus retention. 13 of soybean oil-meal in winter time and 4.5 in summer time were replacedby, respectively, 33 and 11.5 of field bean meal. The daily weight gain of fattening bulls fed on experimental diets was fairly high, i.e. 862 g. The use of field beans in the diets insignificantly lowered feed intakes and nutrient digestibility, decreased nitrogen retention by 11.06 g (P0.05) and weight gains by 9 (P0.05), and increased feed intakes per production unit by 6.5.
