A study conducted to determine the suitability of Lithuanian native wattle pigs as the dam line in crossbreeding with Norwegian Landraces. Two analogous groups, 8 Lithuanian wattle sows each, were formed. The first group was coupled with Lithuanian wattle boars and the second inseminated t o Norwegian Landraces. The crossbred pigs were born larger in size, and their growth rate was higher. The average daily weight gain for crossbreds was 756 g at rationed feeding and 958.2 g at individual feed intake control. The average backfat thickness of crossbreds was 25.28 mm or 7.01 mm (P0.001) lower, and carcass length was correspondingly 98.6 cm or 5.17 cm higher than that of Lithuanian wattle pigs.
