The comparison of hulled and hull-less barley lines

The article contains summed-up results obtained in estimating perspective barley lines in competitive trials. The yield and the protein contents of two hulled and four hulle-less barley lines were compared to the standard variety "Abava" yield and protein content. In 1997 the protein content of the hulled lines was higher due to the extremely dry and hot vegetation season. In 1998 due to rich rainfall the level of protein was lower. The hull-less barley lines had a high 1000 kernel weight and volume weight. The L238 and L302 lines were considered the most promising.
