Comparison of normative values of trace elements content in soil in Latvia and other European countries

To predict the content of trace elements in soil and the need of crops for corresponding fertilizers it has been necessary to work out the limit (normative) values of trace element content in soil. The limit values of trace elements in Latvia's soils have been compared with those in other European countries (Germany, Finland, Denmark, Sweden). The results are based on EDTA extraction of Cu, Mn, Zn and on water extraction of B. On the basis of the scientific research in Latvia and other countries as well as on the above mentioned comparison the trace element limit values of Latvia's soils have been corrected with the purpose of soil classification depending on the trace element content.
