Biological information of Pyraustid and Curcullionid fruit borers of jackfruit was studied in the Regional Integrated Agricultural Research Center (RIARC), Abuyog, Leyte [Philippines] during the 1997 to 1998 cropping. Under laboratory conditions, the over all metamophosis and the natural controlling factors of these borers were determined. In the cages and glassware, the borers are capable of producing several generations given their total life cycle of 33.8 days for the Pyrausted fruit borer and 65.8 days for the Curcullionid fruit borer. The larva of these borers either consisted of 5 instars or melting sustained inside the fruit of the crop. In the absence of original host, the insect pests completed its life cycle on Breadfruit (Artocarpus communis L.), Camansi (A. altilis L.), Marang (A. odoratissima Blanco) and Antipolo (A. rigidus Lam.). However, the total number of days to complete their life stages in these crops were higher. Relative to the natural controlling factors of the insect pests, mortality of thee borers in it original host is higher during the first instar period of the larva and tends to decrease as the growth of the insect pests' progresses. On the alternate host, the trend of mortality was similar but much higher compared to their original host. Collected larvae from the field showed parasitism by Apanteles sp., a hymenopterous parasite
