The study focuses on shellfishes, particularly the pelecypods. It attempts to give the status of mariculture of selected shellfishes (bivalve and gastropods) that have been farmed and those that have potential for farming. It also identifies the problems, constraints, and needs of the shellfish industry in order to establish R & D [research and development] directions and formulate policies for a more effective mariculture
