Out of three insecticides viz., carbofuran, carbaryl and trichlorfon applied at the rate of 1.5 kg a.i. ha-1 as soil furrow application at sowing, carbofuran followed by trichlorfon reduced the incidence of stalk borer (Chilo partellus) in corn cultivar Gauher and thereby not only decreased stalk rot disease but also increased grain yield significantly. Stalk borer was also controlled in another cultivar Shaheen which showed differential response towards tested insecticides. Moreover, carbaryl was found least effective either in reducing disease severity or in increasing grain yield in different corn cultivars.
