The fodder crops sector in Pakistan remains neglected because of competition with cash and cereal crops. The national average yield of fodder crops is stagnant while reasonable progress has been achieved with other crops. This is due to insufficient research facilities and funding, non-production/non-availability of improved seed of high yielding varieties, and lack of dissemination and uptake of improved technology already evolved. Efforts have been made to compare traditional technology with improved technology developed at research institutes for fodder crops production to their maximum potential.
