A field experiment was conducted to assess the influence of indole acetamide (IAM) on growth and yield of rice. Rice seedlings were treated with seven IAM levels (10 raise to the power minus 9 to 10 raise to the power mins 3 M) by dipping seedling roots in solution for an hour just before transplanting them into the field. In case of control, roots were dipped in water for same period. Results showed that growth and yield parameters were significantly promoted in response to various IAM treatments. Indole-3-acetamide application @ 10 raise to the power minus 5 M significantly increased the plant height (2.95%), paddy yield (35.3%), number of tillers (27.0%) and number of panicles (25.4%) compared to control.
