Prospects for changes in the rural population employment structure

The 1990s are characterized by continuing polarisation of the spatial structure of farms. This is accompanied by a growth in the share of peasant households whose sources of income are other than work, and a decrease in the number of peasant-worker household. These processes are linked to unemployment, both open and concealed, existing currently in agriculture, growing obstacles in migration to towns. More favourable conditions for restructuring peasant agriculture - from the point of view of the situation existing on the labour market, can be expected to occur not sooner than in the second half of the following decade
