Modernization of food processing industry from the viewpoint of integration with the European Union

Units of food processing industry which are going to achieve comparative advantages, have to invest in order to improve quality of their products and to lower their processing costs. High rate of investment in food processing sector has been observed during the entire transformation period in Poland. This rate is the highest in late phases of the food processing dealing with composition and confectioning of the final products. Fairly low rate of investments is characteristic for the first phases i.e. primary processing of agricultural row materials. Big technological gap still exists there
