In the field experiment carried out in 1995-97 the effect of N fertilization on the yield and quality of celery grown for bunches was investigated. The N fertilization was applied at the rates 50-250 kg N/ha in a single or divided dose. The seedlings of celery were planted in a permanent place at the end of April or at the beginning of May and the plants were harvested in the last decade of July. The yield of celery increased significantly when the nitrogen fertilization dose was increased up to 150 kg N/ha and the divided dose of N fertilization proved to be more profitable than the single one. The size of leaf rosette and the number od leaves were influenced by nitrogen fertilization
