Investigations on behaviour and survival of selected bacteria in soils fertilized with slurry

Paluszak, Z.
Influence of different soil environments and climate conditions on the behaviour of selected fecal bacteria in soil as well as the risk of contamination of underground water have has also been observed. The research showed that elimination rate of fecal bacteria in soil varied strongly and depended on species and amount of bacteria, the type soil and weather conditions. The survival time of bacteria was the shortest in the surface layers of rusty soil under dry conditions. The type of subsoil, the precipitation and the bacterial population present in slurry were the most important factors influencing infiltration of fecal microorganisms. Fecal bacteria migrated the most deeply in sandy soil in moist season. During dry weather they migrated much more superficially
