Investigation of integrated mechanical and thermal dehydration of sugar beet pulp

The experiments were carried out on two-stage dehydration of sugar beet pulp from 95 to 10% moisture content. The first mechanical stage was performed under pressure generated by a piston, the second one was thermal dehydration in a convection drier. Recommended parameters of the process were: pressure 65-80 bar, rate of pressure increase 0.3-0.5 bar/s, material layer thickness 10-20 mm, drying time 30 min at 120 deg C, mixing material every 5 min
