Empirical tests aiming at working out a practical way to minimize the fuel consumption per ha at soil tillage were presented. Obtained results allowed to determine the exploitation characteristics of a tractor-tool unit when the fuel consumption was reduced to minimum. The results showed that along with getting further from that optimum point up to 15% increase in fuel consumption per ha could be observed
