Double- and three-roller grain mills were tested for the output, energy consumption, dust content and grain flake thickness depending on the clearance of working gap. The roller design significantly affected all tested factors and the relationships were linear in each of the cases. All examined characteristics appeared more advantageous for three-roller mill than for the double-roller one. Within the range of 0.2-0.4 mm gap clearence the output was higher by 8% at energy consumption and flake thickness lower by 25 and 30%, respectively
