Seed-filling duration and yield in lentil

A study was conducted to find out the association among yield-contributing traits, grain-filling duration and seed yield in lentil (Lens culinaris Medik.). Twenty-four diverse (micro- and macro-sperma) lentil lines with different grain-filling durations were evaluated at the Agriculture Research Station (North) Mingora, Swat, Pakistan. Significant positive correlation of seed-filling duration with plant height, pods per plant, branches per plant and seed yield was observed. None of the regression coefficients was significant at P = 0.05. However, the maximum per unit increase of X (yield) was found for number of branches/plant
