Antioxidative activity of rapeseed meal and evening primrose [Oenothera biennis] seed meal extracts

The present study examined effect of ethanol extracts, prepared from defatted rapeseed and evening primrose seed meals, on oxidative stability of sunflower and rapeseed oil. The antioxidative activity was evaluated using Oxidograph apparatus at 110 deg C and compared with the one of some commercial or synthetic antioxidants. Rapeseed and evening primrose seed meal extracts posseed a comparable antioxidative effect which was not too much behind efficiency of the commercial antioxidants. The most effective commercial antioxidants was Grindox-118 in sunflower oil and butylated hydroxytoluene in rapeseed oil
