There are varieties of conflict in mangrove utilization while there has not been any specific guideline on such activities. It is the objective of this study in determining an economic optimum of mangrove utilization, taking into account market and non-market values incurring from mangrove utilization including their economic valuation in environmental impacts. Linear programming is the tool of analysis in determining management guideline for a maximum net present value of mangrove utilization in Trang. The study areas cover coastal mangroves in economic zone A and B in Changwat Trang according to the Cabinet resolution on 15 December 1987. Results of the study reveal that 61 percent of mangroves should be kept in natural condition, all of which are in economic zone A. There should be an allocation of 17 percent for wood concession, mostly in economic zone A with only 1 percent in economic zone B. Reforestation should be 10 percent of which 9 percent are in economic zone A, others are in zone B. Shrimp farming should be in economic zone B only, being 12 percent of total areas, with 4 percent in deteriorated mangroves and the others in mangrove areas, Environments are maintained at these levels of utilization.
