Economic feasibility analysis of Agricultural Land Reform Efficiency Improvement Plan: A case study of Lamtub sub-district, Krabi province

Agricultural Land Reform Efficiency Improvement Plan was initiated by the government in 1991. The plan aims to help landless farmers to have their own cultivable lands. The government provides loans for buying land and operating cost as well as agricultural production plan for farmers. Krabi Province is one of the target areas in the South. The target area in Krabi locates on Din Daeng village, Lamtub Sub-District covering 555.48 rai. Thirtyfour participated farmers received 15 rai each farmer. Major crops namely rambutan, durian and mangosteen. The utilized areas of 14.03 rai were planted to with the area of 5.10, 4.90, 4.03 rai respectively. Banana was planted as the intercrop. The vegetable area was 0.50 rai. And 0.47 rai was the housing area. The main objective of this study was to focus on financial feasibility of the farmers and economic feasibility of the plan by analytical the worthness of the 20 year-old-plan at the 12 percent discount rate. The indicators of the worthness was net present value, benefit cost ratio and internal rate of return. The results of financial feasibility of farmers showed net present value of 389,989 baht, benefit cost ratio of 1.50 and financial internal rate of return of farmers of 48.14 percent. This indicated that the plan was financially feasible. The results of an economic feasibility analysis showed net present value of 1,372,148 baht, benefit cost ratio of 1.07 and economic internal rate of return of 12.87 percent. This indicated that the plan was also economically feasible.
