The effect of the forms of hay on the growth, development and feed efficiency characteristics of the Brown Swiss calves

The effect of two different forms of hay (chopped in 2.5 cm length or in natural form) on the growth, development and feed efficiency characteristics of the Brown Swiss were investigated. Birth, weaining, 4 and 6 month weights of the calves fed the chopped hay were determined as 38.63, 45.59, 92.54 and 131.98 kg respectively. The weights for calves fed hay in natural form were 37.29, 45.04, 95.70 and 135.32 kg respectively. The different forms of forage (hay) did not have significant effect on the weights
