Decomposition rate of eucalyptus leaves in composting process

Decomposition rate of eucalyptus leaves were conducted in laboratory during 50 days of the composting process. The experiment consisted of 4 treatments and 3 replications: sole eucalyptus leaves, with manure, with manure and urea, and with microbial activator. Leaf samples of each treatment was collected at the begining of the experiment and every 10 days for analysis of biological and chemical properties. The result showed that the population of bacteria and actimomycetes, including cellulase activities in residue, which addition of manure or manure with urea or with microbial activator, were higher than so eucalyptus leaves. The pH of leaf residue increased after 50 days of the experiment, and C/N ratio at that time was lower than 20, when manure or manure with urea or with microbial activator were added to the residue. Content of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium in residue of each treatment at 50 days of decomposition was higher than eucalyptus leaves before the composting process.
