Efficacy of some insecticides on green peach aphid, Myzus persicae Sulzer

Nine insecticides: botanical extract insecticide from neem tree, greater galangal and citronella grass (Advantage), profenofos (Delux 50 percent EC), formetanate (Dicarzol 25 percent SP), cypermethrin+phosalone (Parzon 6.25+22.5 percent EC), cypermethrin (Startis 25 percent EC), methamidophos (Cenator 60 percent SL), cyfluthrin (Baythriod-X 5 percent EC), pirimicarb (Micropor 50 percent DG) and monocrotophos (Crotophos 60 percent WSC) were evaluated for their effectiveness against the green peach aphid, Myzus persicae Sulzer. The trial was conducted at the Mae Jo Tobacco Experiment Station, Chiang Mai, in the greenhouse from November 1992 to January 1993. 1 day after applications: pirimicarb, methamidophos and profenofos gave the best control, and monocrotophos gave good control, The percentages of the aphid mortality were 100.00, 94.59, 88.01 and 74.93, respectively. -7 days after applications: pirimicarb, methamidophos, monocrotophos, profenofos and cypermethrin+phosalone gave the best control. The percentages of aphid mortality were 100.00, 100.00, 100.00, 98.61 and 82.38, respectively.
