A comparative study on the fertility, milk yield and fleece yield performances of main sheep breeds in Turkey, kept under semi- intensive conditions

The aim of this study was to determine the general production levels and to compare performances of Fakkaraman, Daglic, Awassi, Karayaka, Kivircik, Central Anatolian Merino, Morkaraman and Sakiz breeds under semi-intensive conditions on a private farm at Bolu province, All groups were managed as a single flock and under similar conditions. The production records of different groups, obtained in 1980-81 and 1981-82, were used. The following numbers of animals were used to obtain the data for various characteristics: 844 sheep for fertility tarits, 924 sheep for fleece weight, 679 sheep for fleece characteristics, 525 sheep for milk yield, 949 sheep for shearing body weight, 320 sheep for body weight at mating
