Effect of plant distances on yield and quality of lettuce and head lettuce varieties

This study was conducted to determine the optimum planting density in lettuce. The cultivars "Saladin" and "Velvet" were planted as 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30 plants per square m . In plants reaching harvest maturity, harvested plant number, yield, marketable plant weight (381,7-535,0 g) and dry matter content (2,57-5,26 g/100 g) were determined. P2O5 and K2O uptake of plant increased with planting density, while N uptake first increased and then decreased
