Body condition scoring is a subjective method that is performed on the basis of empirical knowledge that muscle and adipose tissue development above and around vertebrae in the lumbal region is a representative measure of sheep condition. It enables farmers to examine in a simple way if feeding of their sheep is adequate. This method is performed in characteristic moments of productive cycle, and if sheep diverge from the expected score it is necessary to alter the diet.
