New recommendations in cows feeding

For successful feeding of today's high yielding cows a new knowledge is needed in the following fields: the physiology of feed digestion and utilization, feed production and processing, feeding technique, together with deeper understanding of specific properties and nutritive value of every particular feed, and their interactions in the diet. Contemporary recommendations are trying to orchestrate all conditions which cow diets have to fulfil in an integrated way. Special attention is given on one side to better knowledge of the feed properties and on the other to processes in rumen which directly influence feed utilization. The perspectives of new nutritive systems that will be used in the future are given in the article.
