Organic-bound microelements and live cells of yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) in diet of dairy cows

The experiment was performed on 40 heifers pregnant for the first time and 40 cows in the period from the second to the fourth lactation, of the Holstein-Friesian breed, which were divided into two equal groups (experimental and control group). The experimental group was administered organic-boud zinc in the form of chelate (15% Zn) in quantities of 3 g/head per day and organic-bound selenium in the form of selenium yeast (0.1% Se) in quantities of 2 g/head per day. The animals of the experimental group also received 10 g of live cells of yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) daily. The administration of biotechnological additives in the cow diet resulted in increased milk production by 171 kg and milk fat by 6.14 kg, as well as relative protein content by 0.10%. At the same time, the produced amount of proteins increased statistically significant (p0.05). On the other hand, the diet of heifers resulted in an increase in the relative content of milk fat by 0.07% and a statistically significant (p0.05) increase in the relative content of milk proteins by 0.14% in the experimental group. During the period of the administration of biotechnological additives in the diet, the incidence of mastitis among cows of the control group was 9.0%, and somewhat less expressed (4.6%) in the experimental group.
