Physiological bases of the bitter pit appearance on apple fruits, possibility of predicting their appearance by leaf analysis, as well as possibility of their control by treating or soaking fruits in CaCl2 solution was studying in this work. It was followed the rate of development of the bitter pit on apple fruit in the refrigerator. The defect of calcium (Ca) in apple fruits causes the bitter pit. In the soil usually has enough Ca, so the defect of Ca is result of slowed Ca transport in the plant and its unevenly distribution between some organs. Although most of authors recommend treating of apple fruits with CaCl2 solutions in the second half of the vegetation (July, August, September), in this experiment established that treating of apple fruits, while they were also large as the walnut (June - beginning of July), in ecological conditions of the Suboticko-horgoska pescara (sandy terrain), Serbia (Yugoslavia), brought to increased contain of Ca and appearance of the bitter pit on apple fruits. At sorts Jonathan and Jonagold increasing of Ca contents in relation to control was from 10% to 30%. Soak of fruits after picking brought to significant incrasing of Ca contents in fruits. Reducing of the bitter pit appearance was the largest at the control variant while the effect of soaking was reducing with increasing of treating number of fruits with CaCl2 during the vegetation. At the period from the end of December to the beginning of April wasn't significantly increase in number of diseased fruit in the refrigerator.
