Rapidly decreasing of the population of Senn pest overwintering imagoes in autumn of 1998 [Serbia (Yugoslavia)]

Number of the population of Senn pest overwintering imagoes (genus Eurygaster and Aelia), on wooded area of their overwintering sites in autumn of 1998 was 11.8 adults per square meter. There were the differences between two observed localities: 13.9 imagoes per square meter on the Fruska Gora mountain and 9.8 imagoes per square meter on the Deliblato Sands. It was the lowest number during last nine years. The most numerous species was Eurygaster austriaca (55.1%), followed by the Eurygaster maura (32.2%). Species of Aelia genus were presented with 12.7%. It is the highest percent of their ratio in the Senn pest population, registered up till now. Concerning of the sexual index, the ratio of females : males with Eurygaster austriaca was 1:0.9 and Eurygaster maura 1:1. Natural mortality of the overwintering imagoes was not registered.
