The use of diameter increment in the production differentiation of ecological units in all-aged forests on Mt. Goc [Serbia, Yugoslavia]

This paper analyses the effect of forest types on fir and beech diameter increment in all-aged forests of these tree species on Mt. Goc (Serbia, Yugoslavia) and, in this context, the use of this parameter in the production differentiation of these ecological units, i.e. definition of forest types. The aim was also to find out the best regression models (at the level of forest type) for the fitting of the dependence of diameter increment on the one hand and diameter at breast height and tree number on the other hand, which would, if volume increment is calculated by the method of "diameter increment", reduce the scope of inventory works in future.
