In three years the micro trials with the most important Novi Sad varieties and lines of winter and spring malting barley have been conducted. New variety Novosadski 519 and advanced lines of winter malting barley NS 523 and NS 525 have had 4-5 days shorter period to heading, 10 cm shorter stem, better lodging resistance and 700-900 kg/ha higher yield with respect to check variety Novosadski 293. The values of test weight, 1000 grain weight and sieving test are similar to the values of check. The winter malting barley lines have had germinative energy about 80 and protein content from 12 to 13 DM. The lowest protein content, 12.16 DM has had variety Novosadski 519. New spring malting barley varieties Vihor and Pek have had 5 days shorter period to heading with respect to the check, the spring malting barley, Novosadski 294. Lodging resistance of the recently developed spring varieties is better or similar as of the check. The new varieties overyielded the check by 300-1000 kg/ha and values of seed mechanical analyses were on the check levels. Novosadski 294 has had 56.7 of the first class and other varieties from 70 to 85. Germinative energy of spring barley is better than of winter barley. Protein content amounted to 11.02, 12.16, 12.27, 13.18 and 13.90 DM in Viktor, Pek, Vihor, Jelen and Novosadski 294, respectively.
