High fat food, chronic intake of alcohol and lipids in the liver and serum of rats

The obtained results show that feeding with a high fat diet led to increased cholesterol content of the liver and increased level of serum triacilglycerols and cholesterol. Compared with the corresponding controls, serum cholesterol level in animals drinking alcohol were decreased irrespective of the dietary fat intake. Chronic alcohol consumption did not cause triglyceride elevation in serum and liver of rats. Serum phospholipids and phospholipids amounts in the liver were decreased in the groups receiving alcohol irrespective of the dietary fat intake.
