The first Yugoslav interspecific grape vine hybrid Lucija was created at the Center for Viticulture and Wine Production in Nis (Serbia, Yuoslavia) by crossing Seibel and Early Bouvier. This newly-created hybrid was tested according to official uniform methods in the Leskovac, Nis and Gadzin Han trial localities, and compared with the variety Rkaciteli which was used as the control variety. Based on triennial results of investigations carried out in trial fields and laboratory, on the trial locality and trial year average the hybrid Lucija ensured significantly higher grapes yield, cluster and berry mass, as well as sugar content. The wine obtained from the said hybrid is characterized by a normal chemical composition and organoleptic properties corresponding to the white wine type.
