Studies on the immunogenicity of Riemerella anatipestifer II. determination of immunogenicity of capsular extract material

The immunogenecity of the crude and purified capsular material of Riemerella anatipestifer for ducklings was investigated in this study. Both evoked the antibody response, but the antibody titer of the group immunized with crude capsular material was higher than that of the purified group detected by ELISA. The protective rate against the challenge of homogenous isolate was 90 and 70, respectively after second immunization. The results demonstrated that the capsular material was immunogenic to ducklings, but its immunogenic and protective effect was related to the protein content in capsular products to some extent.
