Effect of Different Levels and Sources of Flouride on Lipid Metabolism

Two hundred day-old broilers, divided into ten groups with 18 broilers each group (with the exception of the control group which had 38 broilers), were fed with three different levels and sources of fluoride (sodium fluoride, calcium fluoride and dicalcium phosphate) with the objective to study the effect of fluoride on the lipid metabolism in chicks. The results showed that with the increase of fluoride content in the diet, fluoride concentration of liver increased, but liver fat and serum cholestrol, triglyceride dropped. Different fluoride sources also affected chick lipid metabolism. Liver fat, serum cholesrol and triglyceride of chicks fed sodium fluoride and dicalcium phosphate had a more significant declining trend that those fed calcium fluride.
