The harvest and the nutritive value of the grass pastures based on the different seed mixtures

The experimental data indicates the higher harvest was got the white clover seed mixtures containing the tall and low grasses. The lack of plausible difference in the dry matter content between the Jogeva and the Dutch origin varieties has been observed. However, the pasture grass derived from the Dutch seedings contained less protein which led to the lower protein and metabolizable energy yield. The ryegrass-rich seed mixture provided for herbage had 0.2-0.3 MJ/kg higher nutritive value but 20 per cent lower harvest. The decrease of the harvest was caused by the winter damage and the lower relative importance of the white clover in spring. The alfalfa-rich seed mixture based on the less grazing sensitive alfalfa variety ABT 205 provided for better harvest on the drought-sensitive soil. The nutritive value evaluation indicated the pasture grass had a high content of a protein (17 per cent), a good digestibility (68-70 per cent) and a high content of the metabolizable energy (10.3-10.6 MJ/kg DM).
