Widely distributed streptococcoses in swine herds may cause relatively high economic loss to farmers. In Estonia, our comparative investigations of distribution of the subclinical bacterial infections on the bases of 4 pig farms in Tartu County show that streptococci as infective agents of streptococcoses were isolated more often from the lungs and from tonsils than other pathogens. Taking into account the abovementioned, our study was performed to determine the susceptibility of 23 S.suis strains from the Tartu POUe and Polva POUe farms. For this purpose, streptococci were isolated from slaughtered pig lungs, from tonsils and from hearts, and were identified by microscopical, biochemical and serological methods as S. suis. Susceptibility was determined to 10 antimicrobial using 2 tests: qualitative Kirby-Bayer disc and quantitative MIC methods
