In these experiments the authors sought to establish how, where diets based on maize/barley/soya bean and wheat/barley/soya bean of different phosphorous content are fed, phytase enzyme (Aspergillus niger) administrated in various small doses (0, 250, 500, 1000 FTU per kg) influences the digestibility of the phosphorus content of the diet and phosphorus retention in growing pigs. A total of 12 pigs per treatment (3 animals per treatment with 4 replicates) were used in the trials performed. The data obtained indicates that, with respect to diets based on maize/barley/soya bean independent of phosphorus content, the addition of microbial phytase enzyme led to a significant improvement (P0.05) in the apparent digestibility of the phosphorus content of the diet.
