Radiation efficiency has been determined for a number of important crops (winter wheat, winter barley, maize, sunflower and potato) grown in Hungary. Among these crops sugarbeet has the highest value of radiation efficiency and sunflower has the lowest. Variation of these values in time shows that the variety and agrotechnical methods as well as the photosynthetically active radiation that indicates fairly small variations during the vegetation periods determined fundamentally the quantity of radiation used by the crops.
