During the hot summer months spawn running causes a lot of problems when growing champignon on polyethilene bags in cellars. Growers usually store freshly spawned compost in cold cellars to save energy. Therefore, spawn running starts slowly, and CO2 level keeps on increasing within the bags poisoning champignon mycelium, and resulting in insufficient spawn running or even totally prevents it.
