On the basis of the analysis of the measured meteorological parameters and the substance balance data over 13 years calculated in a lysimeter experiment, the effects of weather conditions on the substance balance of soil columns were examined. It was established that among the weather characteristics the climatic water deficit showed a closer correlation with the groundwater balance than the precipitation.
