[Maize farming system on dryland in West Kalimantan (Indonesia)]

Assessment on agricultural farming system was carried out in the dry land of Sanggau Ledo, Sambas District, West Kalimantan, from September 1997 to January 1998. It covered a total area of 450 hectares in the corn production center. A simple trial was applied in total land of 41 hectares using a full technology package from the previous assessment. This assessment showed that Bisma corn and Cirata rice varieties provided a productivity of 5.25 and 3.2 ton/hectare, respectively. These productivity were higher than the productivity of local corn and rice productivity of 1.49 and 2.46 ton/hectare, respectively. Bisma corn and Cirata rice varieties provided net profit of Rp.1.683.000 and Rp. 1.380.000 per hectare per season, respectively. These technologies were economically feasible
