In 1994-1996, at the Elmininkai Research Station (Lithuanian Institute of Agriculture) the response of different maturity potato varieties to seed cutting as well as optimum choice of skin surface and potato sizes best for planting (small, 25-40 g or large, 80-160 g) when normal size is lacking, was investigated. It was not found that cutting seed tubers, tuber size and skin surface reduction and increase markedly influenced dry matter content and starch in yields, dry matter content and starch yields were analogous to tuber yield
