The problems associated with transgenic plants are discussed, such as application of biotechnology in agriculture including plant pest and disease control, plant physical and biological transformation, direct and indirect transfer of genes the influence of genetically modified food products on the genetic code of a human. Conclusions: a) transgenic plants should be tested to determine the bioactive components dangerous for human health; b) all the transgenic agricultural products should be divided into twoo groups - 1) "for technical use", and 2) "food stuffs" based on the content and structure of bioactive components.
