The role of trade enterprises in the development of Latvia's national economy is explained. The radical changes in the structure of trade enterprises due to the transfer of the country to the market economy are reviewed. The current development directions of trade enterprises and the conditions influencing their development are discussed. The ratio analyses of trade enterprises include: liquidity ratios, turnover ratio, debt ratio and profit margin ratio.
